Class Description: Have you made socks before, and wondered about the different types of heel techniques? Learn about different options for making sock heels, and what their advantages and challenges are. We will cover afterthought heels, short-row heels, and flap-and-gusset.
*Homework to do BEFORE the class*
Please bring your three homework pieces to class. You should have 3 separate cuff-like pieces upon completion:
Cast on 24 stitches. Knit in the round until it measures 4”. Bind off.
Cast on 24 stitches. Knit in the round until it measures 1 ½”. Leave your stitches live - do not bind off.
Follow the same instructions as #2.
Class Date: Saturday, August 26 from 10am to 1pm
Course Fee: $45 for 3 hours of instruction.
- Yarn: Solid light-colored worsted OR DK weight yarn (we suggest Cascade 220 Merino or Deluxe Worsted)
- Needles: Appropriate size for your yarn. We suggest US 6, 7 or 8 in either DPNs or circular needles that are 29” to 40” long.
Techniques covered: Heel methods, German short rows, picking up stitches.
